I am big on traditions.
Each holiday I try and do something different that my girls will love and hopefully look forward year after year.
Valentine’s Day is no different.
A few years ago, I started a fun Valentine’s tradition. A week before Valentine’s I cut out hearts in all different sizes. I make a bunch, in all different sizes and colors.
I made a list of positive adjectives about my girls. I start making the list a few months before so I make sure I have more than enough hearts.
I write the adjectives on the hearts.
I add enough hearts to write each child’s name, using one heart per letter.
After my girls go to sleep on Valentine’s eve, I tape the hearts on their door. My girl’s share a room, so I only decorate their door (sometimes their bathroom if I have too many hearts). If you have kids who do not share rooms, you would do this on each child’s door.
I have a Valentine treat waiting for the girl’s downstairs. In years past I would decorate Valentine’s Eve as well. This year, with everything going on, we already decorated so we can enjoy the happiness longer.
Their Valentine are treats from the Dollar Tree and Target Dollar Spot. I generally do not spend a lot of money on this holiday.
The next morning, they love the surprises. We read the door several times. We keep the hearts on the door for a few months. They are always sad when we finally take them down.
I would love to hear from you! How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Comment below and share. I am always looking for new ideas to incorporate into our traditions.
This is such a cute idea! I need to drop some stuff in my Walmart cart right now so I don’t forget! 💖
