Joys of Quarantine

At this point, many of us have been in quarantine at least 30 days if not longer. Some days, I know I am feeling the strain, the stress, the walls closing-in, the need to get out . . . Some days it’s impossible to find the good in the situation. But some days, the good really help you get through the rough patches.

The Best Part of Quarantine

IMG_6246Sibling Bonding: My kids have always have a close loving relationship, but there is something about being lockdown together 24/7 that has really brought them closer. They are always by each others side, always looking for one another, helping each other, playing together, laughing together. Rarely are they fighting. I hope this sweet love carries with them after this.

Family Togetherness: In normal times, my husband works very long hours daily. We rarely saw him and when we did he was so tired. He has been working from home for about month. We see him daily. He joins us for almost every meal. Not only do we see him for meals, but he has been spending a lot time with us. It’s been a nice change.

IMG_6250Making Memories: We all have grand plans to do fun things with our kids but life is busy, when we are home we want to relax and we never get to them. Use this time wisely, make a list of all the things you have been dying to do with your kids or even for yourself and start checking them off. There is no time like the present, enjoy this time and make the most of it. If you are running out of ideas on things to do, check out my blog.

Since I have moved from NJ, seeing my East Coast friends regularly has been challenging. I have always said we should FaceTime but no one has ever taken me up on it. I never really pushed it either. I almost think it was not an acceptable way to communicate. I have always hated FaceTime especially when it comes to doing it with grandparents, since holding the phone is an issue and all you see is the top of heads. Now, I have spoken to friends with FaceTime or Whatsapp pretty often. It’s a great way to connect and see each other.

Learn a New Skill: Use this time to learn something you have always wanted to learn; a new language, improve or learn something new to help improve your job, sewing, quilting, knitting, jewelry making, video making, the skills are endless, if you have time. If I didn’t have the girls, I would learn how to knit or crochet.

Me Time: Me time is defiantly different from how it used to be. There are no more spa appointments, no nail appointments, can’t get your hair done, etc. But you can take advantage of this home time with face masks, bubble baths,  deep moisturizer, longer showers, home hair treatment etc. It’s your time, take advantage of it.

Quarantine is not what any of us expected. It’s hard, challenging but it’s time we never normally have. We are always rushing to school, to a dinner, drop-offs, to dance, tutoring, etc. Now, we have all the time in the world. Take advantage of it. Don’t let this time go to waste.

How are you taking full advantage of your time? If you have not been taking full advantage of your time, how do you plan to change that? Comment below. I would love to hear from you!
